Mansour's Store...A long standing family tradition...
Mansour's Men's Wear has been both a landmark and an asset to the Amherst business community since 1924. True to the spirit of Downtown Amherst, Mansour's is a family business built on the traditions of hard work, dedication and customer service. Since 1924 folks from Amherst and the surrounding area have considered Mansour's one of the finest men's and boy's wear retailers in Eastern Canada.
The gentlemen behind this successful enterprise span three generations in the Mansour family. The late Mike Mansour founded Mansour's Men's Wear and was both a familiar face and personality throughout the Amherst area. He traveled through Cumberland County as a peddler with a pack on his back, and later with his horse and wagon. Mike Mansour made a point of acquainting himself with virtually every person in the local areas of Cumberland County, Colchester County as well as parts of New Brunswick. With loyal customers stemming from as far back as 1924, Mansour's clientele could only grow.
The late Theo Mansour arrived in Canada in 1926 from his native Lebanon to join his uncle, Mike Mansour, in the clothing business. The dedication of Theo Mansour led to many accomplishments including the expansion of Mansour's in 1959. An active member of the community Theo Mansour contributed not only to business, but also to the friendly atmosphere of Amherst.
The late Norman Mansour, son of Mike Mansour, also made the family business his own. Norman had many memories of traveling with his father to logging camps, farms and lobster factories in the area to take orders for the store. Norman said his father was known by everyone. With over fifty years experience and an easy going personality, this former mayor of Amherst contributed a great deal to the success of Mansour's Men's Wear.
The dedication and distinguished staff of Mansour's have a contributed to an impressive reputation. Robert Mansour carries on the traditions of hard work and quality service. Son of Theo Mansour, Robert has been with the business for over 35 years.
