Cider on Christmas Eve

Dear Diary, I just received the feed back on my new book from the editor so I have some work to do to get it ready for January 15. This winter I have several projects planned. I have to do the edit on my book, which is in good shape but needs some work.  This book will be out next fall and it will be a celebration of twenty years of making mats. I have been at it since 1990, and the whole thing, my work in it, my art, the people I have met have been nothing short of a blessing.
This winter myself and Katrin Bussiere are going to start work on a dvd, and I also hope to do a cd of readings on rug hooking creativity.  I need plans so that I can accept the winter. I have to have things in the works, things to get lost in, or the winter will tire me out before it begins. I believe in busy mind, light heart, and know that the winter requires that I engage my mind and heart in something that is important to me.
The studio is open through the holidays. People are home visiting and it is a nice time in the studio. We see old faces and new faces. Today we noticed that we were offering to wrap presents for men more often than we were offering to wrap for women. After that we started offering all the women, only to find out two things, that they were buying for themselves, and that women generally like to wrap their own presents. Very few men , when offered, refused our gift wrapping. They were delighted. So we’ll be open on Christmas eve, and then close for Christmas and Boxing Day. On Christmas eve, we might sneak a few treats, and hang a little loose. Kathryn who works with me that day( she wants too…I said she did not have too) said, “get out the cider, we won’t be making any kits” to night as we were getting in our cars.
As for the home front, I am on turkey duty, the bird is in the fridge. My sisters and sisters in law are on the vegetables. The stockings are even filled. I am ready, just sitting around having fun writing to you dear diary…thanks for being there.

Just wanted to wish you a Very Very Merry. Sounds like you are calm and bright! I am still somewhat of a headless chicken with a few last minute dashes to do.

    Enjoy all the celebrations.

And all the best for 2010 (sweater discussions to follow soon).

    Hugs.
