Dear Diary, I just took a picture of the red rug in progress. I like the sound of “Red Rug.”. I ‘ll upload them soon. I spent the morning adding all our new products to the supply page. I also added my new rugs to the gallery. It is all under the shop section of the webpage.
Yesterday at the last minute I decided to have my three friend over for supper. We have been gathering since our children were in play group, for about fifteen years. I thought that having them over would be a treat, then I realized that my daughter was having friends over skating and our porch, is our our dining room so there would be boots and mits and skates thrown around as they went in and out. It did not sound like a great get together with the cold wind blowing in and a meal constantly interupted. Then it occurred to me that I could set up my little studio upstairs for us to eat. I took my nice big desk and moved it to the centre of my little loft. I put the rug frame to the side. I grabbed a lamp, a few candles and a set of red mini lights to light up the room a bit. It looked like a little restaurant, and felt like we were away somewhere. Before and after supper we sat around on my daybed, and cozied up with a glass of wine, and talked foolishly about very little. It was lovely.
I made up a recipe which turned out great and it would make a great addition to turkey dinner.
Carrots and Cranberries
I chopped 6 carrots and 2 parsnip into chunks, and tossed them with 3tbsp olive oil, 1/2 cup fresh cranberries, 3tbsp fresh sage, 2tbsp brown sugar, and roasted them for 35 minutes on 350. They were delicious. I served this with jasmine rice, a spinach salad, the fish casserole from the recipe archives.
For dessert we had my fruitcake with
Brown sugar sauce:
Take 1/4 cup butter and mix with 1 cup brown sugar, add 1 cup of water and bring to a boil.
Mix together 2 teaspoons corn starch, pinch of salt and 1/8 cup carnation milk. Pour into boiling sauce. Add a bit or rum or vanilla if you like. Serve over anything….

Your hooking feast sounds so nice and cozy…..I think I’d rather be cozy than grand any day.
